Register NowThe 141st Annual Diocesan Convention will be held Friday, October 23rd through Saturday, October 24th, 2015 in Wausau at St John's Episcopal Church and the Jefferson Street Inn. The Convention is a time to gather for worship, enjoy fellowship and meet for diocesan business.

Convention begins Friday evening with Eucharist at St. Johnís followed by a banquet and conversation at the Jefferson Street Inn. The convention continues Saturday with Morning Prayer and business sessions at the Jefferson Street Inn. Both days include display tables and opportunities for fellowship.

ConventionWhat Is Convention?

The convention is an assembly of delegates of two types. Lay delegates are elected by their congregation. Clergy are delegates by virtue of ordination and being Ďcanonically residentí in the diocese (under the authority of the bishop) and may include clergy who live outside the boundaries of the diocese. The role is not to Ďrun the dioceseí, but to elect those who oversee the diocese and provide direction for those bodies and congregations.

Delegate and Congregation Responsibilities

Delegates are the link between the congregation and convention. All delegates should take initiative and discuss convention with members of your church ahead of time. As that vital link, you take responsibility for sharing information from convention with your vestry and congregation. Every congregation is asked to pray for their delegates and the convention during Sunday services. A suggested prayer can be found in the Book of Common Prayer, page 817.

Deadline is September 23rd

Anyone who will attend (delegates, visitors, exhibitors and guests) must register. Registration is tracked by email address, so if you share with another attendee or donít have one, register with a fictitious email such as YOURNAME@diofdl.org. If you have a guest only attending the Friday banquet, they do NOT register separately but will register in the Guest section of your registration form.

Jefferson Street Lodging

Those staying overnight must make their lodging arrangements. A block of rooms is reserved at the Jefferson Street Inn for $126 per room (which includes a complimentary continental breakfast). Call (715) 845-6500 and reference Diocese of Fond du Lac. Check-in is 3:00pm Friday. Check-out is 12:00 noon Saturday. Availability is guaranteed through Thursday, September 24th. After that date, rooms may be available, but rate and availability are not guaranteed. For tax exemption you need to provide the hotel your congregationís Wisconsin Tax Exemption Certificate and use a church credit card or check. Tax exempt status is only available if the church directly pays for the room.

Fees

The convention fee covers the actual cost of meals, gratuity, hospitality (special guests, tellers, and seminarians), facilities, supplies and postage. Only beverage service is provided Saturday morning because hotel guests receive a complimentary continental breakfast. Fees may be paid during online registration or by mailing a check to the Diocesan Office after online registration is complete. All fees should be paid before convention to make check-in quicker. Registrations after September 23rd pay higher fees.
