The presence of the Episcopal Church in Eagle River dates to 1898 and continues after a brief absence following establishment of St. Francis Episcopal Mission by the Diocese of Fond du Lac to offer worship and fellowship in the tradition of the Episcopal Church.
St. Francis is supported by the diocese who have committed resources to support the planting of the mission, and nearby St. Matthias Episcopal Church, Minocqua who assists their new Episcopal neighbors (like they received from Eagle River when they organized 40 years ago).
The Rev. Geoff Ward is Priest-in-Charge. Fr. Geoff grew up in the Diocese of Milwaukee. He recently moved back to the area following service with Christ Church Cathedral in Hartford, Connecticut. "It's exciting to be a part of a new church to live out the mission and ministry of the Gospel," Fr. Ward said. "God's work through the church in this area has been strong, but there is always more work to do."
